July 20, 2017

Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a home invasion that occurred today at 12:15 p.m. in the 7600 block of Sifford Road in eastern Lincoln County.

An elderly Lincoln County woman returned to home to find a light brown or tan colored sedan parked in her carport.  She thought that it was a relative with a key was inside and entered her residence.  The door was partially open and she thought a relative was inside the home so she went inside.  The door had actually been kicked in.

She encountered a slim built black male approximately 18 to 22 years old and armed with a black handgun.  He took the woman into a back room of the house and placed her in a chair telling her he didn’t want to hurt her.  She called 911 while the suspect was in the residence. The suspect left with the residence with a flat screen tv and a lock box.

When deputies arrived on the scene they cleared the residence and detectives set up crime scene tape. It is believed there were two people in the residence but the victim only saw one person.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202.
