Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office News Release

October 27, 2016

Lincolnton, NC - On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit charged three people for selling methamphetamine to undercover detectives.  Two other people were also charged for unrelated charges which stemmed from those investigations.

According to detectives, three of the subjects became targets in an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine sales in the southern and eastern part of Lincoln County.  Detectives say most of the transactions occurred in parking lots of businesses near Salem Church Rd. and Gastonia Hwy. and in various locations in Denver near Highways 16 and 73.

Detectives say the investigation took place over a six month period of time.

Warrants were issued for the three people on October 12, 2016 and detectives looked for them at various locations but were unable to locate the individuals until Wednesday.

Acting on tips, narcotics detectives went to a residence near the 600 block of Springs East Rd. to look for two of the wanted subjects.  On arrival detectives encountered two people who lived at the residence.

One subject came up to the residence after detectives arrived, breathing heavily.  When questioned, the subject said she had been walking up the road.  Later detectives learned the subject had run to a residence next door to alert the two wanted subjects that detectives were on scene.

Detectives went next door and located two of the wanted individuals hiding in an outbuilding and they were both taken into custody.  The subject who tipped them off about the presence of law enforcement was also arrested.

The other subject wanted for selling methamphetamine was located at a trailer on Jess Monroe Dr. in Catawba County.  Catawba County deputies assisted narcotics officers in locating him and took him into custody without incident.

A fifth person was also charged on drug charges Wednesday after detectives found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in an apartment she lived in near the 4500 block of W. Hwy 27 in Vale.  Detectives went to the location looking for one of the wanted subjects they believed was staying there.

"These individuals thought they could hide but with cooperation from citizen tips and hard work by our detectives we were able to locate each one," says Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Lt. Jon Propst.
