LCSO Lieutenant Named “Lincoln County Employee of the Year”

Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Erin Amanda Long has been named “Lincoln County Employee of the Year.”

 She was presented the award by Lincoln County Commission Chairman Alex Patton at the Lincoln County 2013 Employee Appreciation Luncheon at the James W. Warren Citizens Center on Wednesday.

 In presenting the award, Chairman Patton told the gathering of county employees, “The employee that has been selected to receive the 2013 Employee of the Year Award not only meets, but exceeds all of the eligibility criteria.  This employee’s knowledge, professionalism, and genuine care for people, have been the secret to her success.”  He went on to say, “She has demonstrated a natural ability to lead and has earned the respect of the men and women she supervises.  She has dedicated her life to law enforcement and to the citizens of Lincoln County.”

 Erin Amanda Long is a life-long resident of Lincoln County.  She graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1992 and completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Gaston College in 1995.  She was hired as a Deputy Sheriff by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in April of 1997 and quickly rose through the ranks.  Her hard work led to a promotion to Sergeant in 2001 and First Sergeant in 2006.  She has served as Lieutenant since December of 2010. 

 Lt. Long has dedicated her life to law enforcement and to the citizens of Lincoln County. She has strived to continue to improve herself and her knowledge of the criminal justice field by completing many classes and advanced classes.  She was awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate in 2006 which is the highest certificate issued by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association Education, Training and Standards Committee  She also has received numerous commendations from other law enforcement agencies as well as from citizens for excellent service to the community and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

 Sheriff David Carpenter said, “I am extremely proud to be associated with such a professional and dedicated employee and to observe those attributes on a daily basis with everyone she comes into contact with.  She is simply the best”.

 On top of all her duties she finds time to serve as a BLET instructor through Gaston College, conducts a Citizen’s Academy at the Sheriff’s Office and is an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church.  She has accomplished all of this while obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University.Image

 A number of Lincoln County employees received Employee Service Awards in 2013.

38 workers were honored for 5 years service, while 22 employees received 10 year pins.

18 employees were honored for 15 years service, 10 were honored for 20 years of service to the county and 5 people received 25 year awards.  The only 30 year employee this year was Kevin Starr.

He was also among 24 people who retired from county employment in 2013.

New Rules When Applying for Gun Permits

 

 

  • Applications for pistol purchase permits may be submitted in person at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office with payment of the $5.00 fee per permit.  There is no limit on the amount of permits that can be purchased.  There is no limit on the number of gun permits that can be purchase at one time.

 

  • The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, as a convenience and courtesy to the public, is also accepting on-line applications submitted through a private company's on-line application procedure. This option is strictly VOLUNTARY and any handling fee is between the company and the applicant.

 

  • The $5.00 fee is payable for each pistol permit application received.
 
 

Crime Stopper Reports

  Crimestoppers may pay a reward of up to $1,000 for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest in any crime. Anonymous tips can be called into the Crimestoppers Tip Line 24 hours per day, seven days per week at  (704) 736-8909.
