LINCOLNTON – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 700 came in second place overall – behind the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department – in the North Carolina State Law Enforcement Explorers Survival Week competition. The competition was held this past weekend at Camp Grimes located near Marion in McDowell County. According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Investigative Lt. Hal Kluttz, the explorers competed against other explorer posts from across the state.

“The explorer posts worked together in team building exercises,” said Lt. Kluttz. “Explorer Post 700 brought home seven medals in all.” Some of the competitions included a basketball competition; two mile run competition; felony car stop competition; sit-up and push-up competition; a piggy back relay; an obstacle course competition and a tug of war competition. According to Lt. Kluttz, the explorers learned a valuable lesson that cannot be taught in a classroom. “The explorers learned how to work together as a team under stressful situations and during competition,” said Lt. Kluttz. For more information on the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 700 program, call Lt. Hal Kluttz at (704) 736-8864. |
