Crashed Plane at End of Runway Under Investigation |

LINCOLNTON – Authorities were called to the Lincoln County Airport on Airport Road Sunday after an airport employee discovered a plane crashed at the end of a runway. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. J. Cody responded to the airport around 9am and spoke with the employee, who identified the owner of the plane. The aircraft was discovered abandoned at the end of runway #23.
Sgt. Cody spoke with the plane’s owner, who said he did not know how the plane got to the end of the runway. Boger City Fire Department responded to the scene in reference to a minor fuel spill coming from the left wing of the aircraft. There was about $50,000 worth of damage to the aircraft. The case remains under investigation. |

Don't throw away sales receipts, credit card transactions or other information that may contain credit card and/or account numbers. Purchase a good paper shredder and use it. EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Larry Stanley is the new Chief Deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Larry has over 30 years of experience with the Sheriff's Office. Having worked his way up through the ranks during his career, Larry is very knowledgeable with all aspects of the Sheriff's Office. Prior to his promotion, Larry was the Lieutenant of the West Lincoln area, or the Adam District. Please join me in congratulating Larry on his promotion. Secure lawn and garden equipment in locked areas and don't leave them in your yards or carports. As a deterrent to crime, lighting is a good security measure to take. Install adequate lighting on your property especially around buildings and vehicles. Join or start a local Neighborhood Watch program and if there is not one in your neighborhood, consider starting one.
