|
CROUSE -- On the evening of Oct. 19, 2009, Cherryville Police officers investigated a possible shoplifting call in Cherryville. During a traffic stop of the vehicle, they found what they believed to be methamphetamine precursors, or items used to make methamphetamine. Cherryville Police contacted the State Bureau of Investigation. After arriving at the scene and interviewing the subjects, agents contacted Lincoln County Narcotics officers to go to a residence at 2485 Swanson Road, Crouse, to investigate a possible methamphetamine lab. James Merriam
Deputies with the Lincoln Sheriff’s Office and SBI agents, as well as Gaston County Police, went to the residence and received consent to search the property. Officers located a methamphetamine lab in an outbuilding on the property. The lab was dismantled and charges were filed against James Norman Merriam on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine. Merriam, 32, of 2485 Swanson Road, is already in the Gaston County Jail on shoplifting charges. Merriam will be served warrants on the Lincoln County charges in the near future. Lt. Toby Szykula said no other occupants in the residence on Swanson Road in Crouse will be charged with any criminal charges. |
