ACE TEAM RELEASES AUGUST 2009 NUMBERS |
|
LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Traffic/ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team issued a total of 76 citations for the month of August. Most of the citations (34) were for speeding. “People are not paying attention to the posted speed limits, especially on the new Highway 16,” said Sgt. Larry ingle. “Drivers are starting to see us on the new Highway 16, though.”
Ingle said the low number of citations can be attributed to the fact vehicle inspections are now tied in with vehicle registrations in North Carolina. “The new law takes between 20 and 40 citations per month off of us,” said Ingle. There were only three state inspection violations for August, compared to five in July. In years past, the monthly average were 30 to 50 citations. While drivers may speed and not wear their seatbelts (13 citations issued in August), Ingle said drivers are getting the message about tinted windows. “The team isn’t writing as many dark tinted window tickets,” said Ingle. “The bulk of the violations are coming from outside Lincoln County.” Sgt. Ingle and Deputy Jason Hutchinson comprise the two-man Traffic/ACE Team. Deputy Hutchinson was in K-9 School for the month of August for four weeks doing training with the new K-9, Dogan, and was available for patrol. |
