CRIMESTOPPERS

Crimestoppers may pay a reward of up to $1,000 for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest in any crime. Anonymous tips can be called into the Crimestoppers Tip Line 24 hours per day, seven days per week at  (704) 736-8909.

 

TIPS NEEDED

On Aug. 30, 2009, a residence on Buffalo Run off Buffalo Shoals Road was broken into. An Apple Mac laptop, a Nintendo Wii, a Sony Playstation 2 console, a Sony handcam video recorder and $12,000 in jewelry were taken.  On Aug. 31, 2009, a residence on Horseshoe Lake Road was broken into. An Envision 32 inch flat screen TV and 3,000 in jewelry were taken. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers of Lincolnton/Lincoln County at (704) 736-8909. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest in any crime is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

 

TIPS NEEDED 

Sometime on or about Aug. 24, 2009, unknown suspects cut the lock on a storage trailer that was parked in the 7000 block of Old Plank Road in Stanley. Once inside, the suspects removed approximately $3,000 in various power tools. If anyone has any information about this crime, call Crimestoppers of Lincolnton/Lincoln County at (704) 736-8909. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest in any crime are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

 

TIPS NEEDED

On August 5, 2009, Jean Houk reported a platinum 18 karat gold diamond ring stolen from her residence on Highway 150 East in Lincoln County. The ring was last seen around March 10, 2009. The value of the ring was $3,200. Detective Sally Dellinger had Mrs. Houk do a drawing of the ring. A pair of 14 karat yellow gold earrings, a 10 karat yellow gold bracelet, a set of 14 karat yellow gold dangle earrings and a set of 14 karat yellow gold hoop earrings were also taken. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers of Lincolnton/Lincoln County at (704) 736-8909. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive a reward of up to $1,000.

 

TIPS NEEDED

On August 5, 2009, a house under construction on Blair Drive in Lincolnton was entered and approximately 200 feet of 14 guage electrical wire was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at (704) 732-9050 or Crimestoppers of Lincolnton/Lincoln County at (704) 736-8909. Callers remain anonymous and can receive a reward of up to $1,000.

SEVERAL THEFTS UNDER INVESTIGATION

LINCOLNTON – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Tracy Riddle and Robin Powell are investigating several theft cases they believe are unrelated.

Detective Riddle said the first case happened on August 6, when a four wheeler was taken from an outbuilding on Dave Heafner Road. Also taken were a tractor bar and two chainsaws. Someone also stole a safe from a neighboring home.

Detective Riddle also said several outbuildings were broken into along Highway 274 around the first part of August. Taken in the break-ins were weed eaters, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and generators.

 

Neighbors have reported seeing a red Ford Ranger pickup with a black grill occupied by two white males.

Detective Powell’s cases are from July 1, 2009 to Aug. 24, 2009

The first case was reported at a residence in the 1500 block of Wehunt Store Road in Cherryville, where a $7,200 four wheeler was taken from an open shed on July 1.

On Aug. 6, more than $40,000 worth of jewelry, wooden jewelry and a jewelry box were taken from a residence in the 1200 block of Highway 274.  A generator valued at $400 was taken in an Aug. 18 break-in from a residence in the 6600 block of Highway 182, while a $2,900 four wheeler was taken from an outbuilding in the 6800 block of Lackey Road in Vale on Aug. 24.

Anyone with information in any of the cases is asked to call Detective Tracy Riddle or Detective Robin Powell at (704) 732-9050.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas: the Holidays are coming fast and the season for increased criminal activity will come with them. Don't be a victim. Take time to put safety first. Safeguard your personal information, lock up your valuables, secure your property and home and develop a healthy skepticism. Don't throw away sales receipts, credit card transactions or other information that may contain credit card and/or account numbers. Purchase a good paper shredder and use it.

Larry Stanley is the new Chief Deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Larry has over 30 years of experience with the Sheriff's Office. Having worked his way up through the ranks during his career, Larry is very knowledgeable with all aspects of the Sheriff's Office. Prior to his promotion, Larry was the Lieutenant of the West Lincoln area, or the Adam District. Please join me in congratulating Larry on his promotion. COMMUNITY AWARENESS
Property crime continues to be a problem in the county. Secure lawn and garden equipment in locked areas and don't leave them in your yards or carports. As a deterrent to crime, lighting is a good security measure to take. Install adequate lighting on your property especially around buildings and vehicles. Join or start a local Neighborhood Watch program and if there is not one in your neighborhood, consider starting one.
