Two More Meth Labs Found In Lincoln County Tuesday
Ongoing Investigation Leads to Second Meth Lab Bust of the Day

Lincolnton, NC – Two methamphetamine labs were discovered today in Lincoln County.

The first meth lab was found Tuesday morning around 9:00 a. m. when a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Civil officer went to 2120 Underwood Lane to serve a civil paper and while talking to the occupant the man ran from the scene.   Deputy Dennis Long got in a foot chase with the suspect and caught him near Rock Dam Road.

Deputy Long was checking the mobile home for damage where the man was being evicted and discovered what is believed to be methamphetamine byproducts.  He exited the mobile home and contacted the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Interagency Narcotics Unit.  He credited a recent Meth Awareness class taught by the SBI with guidance in looking for products and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The SBI was dispatched to the scene and after obtaining a search warrant confirmed that the mobile home contained an operating meth lab.   A hazardous materials clean-up crew has been called in to clean up the site.

Officers identified the man arrested in the case as Jeffrey Alan Arthur, 41, 2120 Underwood Lane, Lincolnton.  He is charged with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine precursor, and manufacturing a Schedule II methamphetamine.   He is in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.   Responding along with the SBI and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was Howards Creek Fire Department, Lincoln County EMS and Emergency Management.Image

The second suspected lab was discovered at 6072 Cottontail Lane off Hog Hill Road around 4:00 p. m. Tuesday.  Lincolnton/Lincoln County Interagency Narcotics Unit, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies and the SBI processed the scene after confirming another meth lab.  At that location, officers arrested Gina Leatherman Gantt, 45, of 6072 Cottontail Lane, Vale, NC.    She is charged with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine precursor, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance, methamphetamine.   Assisting at the scene were Lincoln County EMS and Emergency Management, and Union Volunteer Fire Department.

Leatherman was jailed under a $75,000 secured bond.
